# Creating your account

> How to sign up, what it asks for, what it does not ask for, and where you land afterwards.

Sign-up lives at [myclerkbook.com/sign-up](https://myclerkbook.com/sign-up) and
takes a minute. There is nothing to connect, and no payment details are
asked for.

## How you can sign in

<CardGroup cols={3}>
  <Card title="Email and password" icon="envelope">
    Your email address is verified before the account is active.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Username and password" icon="user">
    A username instead of an email address, if you prefer.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Google" icon="google">
    The only social provider offered. myClerkBook receives your email address
    and basic profile, and nothing else.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  **Sign in with Apple and passkeys are specified and not yet available.** They
  are in the plan and are not offered on the sign-in page today. When a method
  is live it appears on that page. The page is the authority, not this list.
</Note>

## What sign-up asks for

Your name, a username, an email address and a password, plus your agreement to
the [Terms](https://myclerkbook.com/legal/terms) and the
[Privacy Policy](https://myclerkbook.com/legal/privacy).

**It does not ask for a plan.** Choosing a plan is not part of sign-up and not
part of onboarding. It comes straight after, and a plan or the Premium trial is
what opens the app.

**It does not ask for a bank.** There is no facility to connect one, on any
plan, at any point. See
[What is myClerkBook](/getting-started/what-is-myclerkbook).

## Where you land

Creating an account takes you straight to **onboarding**, which runs once. When
you finish it you arrive at your first book.

Signing in later takes you to your most recently used book instead, so you pick up
where you left off rather than choosing from a list every time.

  <Step title="You create the account">
    At `/sign-up`, with one of the methods above.

    It asks what to call you, then has you name your first book and pick the
    currency it is kept in.

## Deleting the account

Deletion is immediate and permanent for your account and everything in it: no
soft delete, no archive, no retained copy. Analytics records are held
separately and are erased on request. If you want your records, export them
first.
